This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, instruct and evaluate the effectiveness of an Aqua Exercise to Music Group Session.
You will learn:
- Skeletal System
- Muscle System and Muscle Action
- Cardio Respiratory System
- Energy Systems
- Principles of Fitness
- Principles of Training
- Theory of Exercise in water
- Types of Exercise to use in water
- How to plan, instruct and evaluate an Aqua Training Session
- How to promote the adoption of physical activity
- How to deal with accidents and emergencies

Course requirements
You should have some experience of attending aqua classes and during the course you will gain further knowledge and skills by participating in work experience activities in the aqua training environment.
Assessment
You will submit a portfolio of evidence which contains the following:
- Screening documentation for all participants
- Session Plan designed for Aqua Exercise to Music
- Risk assessment for the planned session
- Evidence of CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Health and Safety Worksheet
- Promote the Adoption of Physical Activity Worksheet
You will then be observed instructing your group through the planned session. Following assessment you will carryout a written evaluation of your performance and create an action plan for your continued professional development.
There is also a multiple choice theory paper which is externally set and marked by Central YMCA Qualifications.
Attendance Requirements
Distance Study Option Only - You have the option to attend 1 training day and are required to attend 1 assessment day on which you will complete all your assessments. Students residing outside the UK may submit a video for their assessment.
